Throughout the college application process, many colleges strive to promote their best features to their potential new students. For some, their favored aspect is their advantageous location, beautiful campus, renowned academics, or class sizes. While Santa Clara University has many of these features, many people tend to overlook the importance and benefits of its small class sizes.

Santa Clara University is considered to be a medium-sized school with a student...

If you are like me and sometimes need a break from studying on-campus, there are lots of great study spots off-campus nearby. I like studying at cafes and here are a few of my favorites:

1. Big Mug Coffee Roaster

3014 El Camino Real

Santa Clara, CA 95051

Big Mug is one of the first cafes I discovered in Santa Clara. It’s one of the most “hipster” cafes I’ve been to in this area. When I go to Big Mug, I usually get their Green Tea Latte. Big Mug can get very crowde...

For every college student breaks are exciting, but what do you do if you’re an international student staying on campus? There are many amazing places to visit nearby that will keep you entertained for the duration of your break! There are a variety of locations that would satisfy your need; hungry? Santana Row. Want to get away? San Francisco and Santa Cruz. Want to shop? Valley fair mall. These are just a few of the endless places to spend your laid bac...

Hiking is one of the favorite activities of many SCU students, so I thought it appropriate to compile lists of hikes I’ve completed and hikes I hope to do before graduating. The Bay Area has no shortage of beautiful landscapes that make for great hikes. Hiking is a great activity to enjoy with friends and it’s relatively cheap. Usually I only have to pay for a zipcar or other form of transportation.

The Bay Area is located in Northern California, and includes major cities such as San Francisco, Oakland, and San Jose. The Bay Area is famous for its diverse population, liberal politics, and high-tech industry. One of the biggest draws for students who chose SCU is the lovely weather! We're located in sunny California and it makes going to class all the more pleasant.

The weather in the Bay Area is affected by microclimates, so certa...

Located in one of the nicest areas in the United States, there is definitely a variety of activities to do and places to visit once you enroll in SCU and become a Bronco.

If you are passionate about sports like I am, then you must to attend the different sporting events that are hosted around the Bay Area with your friends. The closest sporting event to our campus is the San Jose Sharks’ hockey games, which are played at the SAP Center, just...

Moving to another country has several challenges. One of them for me was never having food from home. Adapting to the american cuisine isn’t necessarily the best experience, especially when the daily options are limited to what is offered at school. Don’t get me wrong, we’re blessed with a pretty amazing cafeteria. But there’s nothing like the taste of a home cooked meal. However, being in the Bay Area is a great opportunity to expand one’s culinary experience...

As a student of Santa Clara University, going to San Francisco couldn’t be more convenient! The Santa Clara Caltrain Station is just a 3 minute walk away from SCU (actually it is just across the road f...

Sometimes a simple question such as “what are you doing this summer” may seem like just one of those typical questions you throw around just as small talk, however for international students that often means a lot more. For us, home might be a couple thousand miles away, so “what are you doing this summer” becomes a long elaborate response or explanation over housing, internships, splitting time between home and here, etc.

At Santa Clara there are so many diffe...
