The Bay Area is located in Northern California, and includes major cities such as San Francisco, Oakland, and San Jose. The Bay Area is famous for its diverse population, liberal politics, and high-tech industry. One of the biggest draws for students who chose SCU is the lovely weather! We're located in sunny California and it makes going to class all the more pleasant.
The weather in the Bay Area is affected by microclimates, so certain parts of East Bay can be 15 degrees Fahrenheit warmer than downtown San Francisco. In general, the bay area has a comfortable climate that is not too hot in the summer and mild in the winter.
Thanks to the amazing weather there are plenty of outdoor activities to do and public transportation makes it easy to get around. Public transportation is very accessible in downtown areas such as San Jose and San Francisco. Some popular transportations for students are BART(Bay Area Rapid Transit), CalTrain, and Amtrak. Most of these transits accept clipper card, an all-in-one transit card for the Bay Area. It cost $3 to get a new card, and after that, it takes cash and card to load more money. You can get a card from most BART stations as well as online.
