How to Spend your Break

March 22, 2018

For every college student breaks are exciting, but what do you do if you’re an international student staying on campus? There are many amazing places to visit nearby that will keep you entertained for the duration of your break! There are a variety of locations that would satisfy your need; hungry? Santana Row. Want to get away? San Francisco and Santa Cruz. Want to shop? Valley fair mall. These are just a few of the endless places to spend your laid back days.

You would probably want to eat some off campus food when you’re on break. Other than benson (the dining hall) there are numerous places to eat. Down the Alameda street there are many fast food restaurants to grab a bite from. Ikes- a sandwich shop- has exquisite sandwiches that you must try! There are other old favorites such as Subway and Starbucks right around the corner. If you’re looking for a more formal area to eat at, Santana Row is the place to go. Santana Row has a line of high-end cuisines and is only eight minutes away from campus by Uber!

San-francisco and Santa Cruz are amazing places to go if you want to spend a day away from campus. You can catch the Caltrain to San Francisco which will take you there in just over an hour. You can spend the day roaming around Union Square and seeing the Golden Gate Bridge.  If you miss the beach and need a place to relax and swim, Santa Cruz will do that for you. You can rent a Zipcar- if you have a license- and drive up to the Santa Cruz Boardwalk. The Boardwalk if filled with rollercoasters and the beach is right in front. These two places will definitely give you a break from school.

Lastly, the Valley Fair Mall has an ample amount of stores for you to shop at. The best part is that it’s only across the street from Santana Row! Valley Fair also has places for you to eat at and is overall a great place to spend the day at. The mall is quite large and will take you time to cover ground.

There are many places around Santa Clara that will keep you busy during break. It is rare that you get this many different types of opportunities around a university. Even though Santa Clara University itself is a wonderful campus to spend time on, these other places will also give you a break from what you’re used to.
